NEPSE Index Falls 0.45%, Total Turnover Hits Rs. 5.16 Arba on June 4, 2025

 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed lower, dropping by 11.97 points or 0.45% to settle at 2,646.95. This decline follows a sharper fall of 35.73 points in the previous trading session. The market opened at 2,660.22 and reached an intraday high of 2,664.59 before slipping to a low of 2,641.07.

The day’s total trading volume stood at approximately 13.78 million shares, with a turnover value of Rs. 5.16 Arba (516 crores). These shares were traded through 59,130 transactions involving 313 different companies. The total market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 4.41 Kharba (441 billion), while the float market capitalization was Rs. 1.48 Kharba (148 billion).

Key Movers of the Day

Arun Kabeli Power Limited (AKPL) led the market in turnover with Rs. 36.26 crores and traded 1.35 million shares, closing at Rs. 274.50. Other top volume stocks included Himalayan Finance and Development Company Preference shares (HIDCLP) with 772,795 shares, Nepal Gas Limited (NGPL) with 588,767 shares, Laxmi Vishal Finance (LVF2) with 525,900 shares, and Upper Tamakoshi Power Company (UPCL) with 469,364 shares.

Biggest Gainers and Losers

Among the biggest gainers, Om Development Pvt Ltd (OMPL) surged by 10%, closing at Rs. 1,994.70, while Pure Ice Factory (PURE) jumped nearly 10%, closing at Rs. 465.80. Other notable gainers included Shree Mountain Hydro (SMH), Sanima Feeder (SFEF), and ICF Consultancy (ICFCD83), which rose between 4% and 7%.

On the downside, Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) was the worst performer, falling by 5.81% to close at Rs. 2,495.98. Other major decliners included Manjushree Hydro Power Limited (MSHL), Citizens Investment Trust (CIZBD90), Union Life Insurance Company Limited (ULBSL), and Standard Life Insurance Company Limited (SLBSL), with losses ranging from 3.30% to 3.70%.

Sector Performance

Among various sectors, the Trading Index posted the highest gain of 0.49%, showing some positive momentum. In contrast, the development banking  Index faced the largest decline, dropping 0.90% due to weakness in financial stocks like CORBL.

Market Sentiment

Today’s trading reflected cautious investor sentiment amid continuing volatility, with more stocks declining than advancing. With the overall market cap above Rs. 5,163,334,522.54 and solid trading volumes, the market continues to show active participation despite the dip.
