A legal complaint has been filed against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
Lawyer Yubaraj Safal claims that nearly Rs. 1 crore was spent to install a lift without following proper legal procedures. He says the lift was installed without a tender process, competition, or quotations, which goes against Nepal’s Public Procurement Act 2063 and Regulation 2064.
Safal also alleges that the lift was installed only for the personal use of Mayor Balen, and he has demanded that all related documents be collected and a thorough investigation be carried out.
