WorldLink Communications, Nepal’s largest internet service provider, along with its subsidiary company Data World, is set to receive a significant foreign investment from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The IFC, in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank Nepal, is investing USD 29 million, which is equivalent to around Rs 3 arba 98 crore.

This funding is intended to boost broadband connectivity throughout the country, develop sustainable data center infrastructure, and enhance overall digital accessibility. A key objective of the initiative is to expand high-speed fiber optic internet services, particularly in remote areas of Nepal.

As part of the project, Nepal’s first EDGE (Environmental, Data, Governance & Energy-efficient) certified data center will be established. This initiative also aims to create thousands of jobs and promote greater female representation within the workforce.
