The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) apprehended Chief Land Revenue Officer Kumar Acharya and office assistant Tikaram Raut on Monday. The duo was allegedly demanding a bribe in exchange for transferring land ownership in the name of a Mohi (tenant).
According to the CIAA, the bribe was requested in the name of facilitating land ownership documentation for approximately 14 ropani and 4 aana of land located in Changunarayan Municipality–5. The land was to be registered by reconciling the details of the Mohi and the landholder (Talsing), and ownership would then be issued under the Mohi’s name.
Arrest and Evidence Seizure
Both individuals were arrested while accepting the bribe from the service seeker. Along with the cash, two mobile phones in their possession were also seized during the operation.
