Citizens Investment Trust Approves 5% Bonus, 8% Cash Dividend

The 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Citizens Investment Trust (CIT) was successfully held, during which shareholders approved a 5% bonus share and 8% cash dividend from the fund’s earnings for fiscal year 2081/82 (B.S.).

The fund reported a net profit after tax of Rs 1,25,60,00,000 for the previous fiscal year. Out of this, Rs 25,12,00,000 was retained in the general reserve, and the remaining amount was distributed as dividends to shareholders.

CIT also reported that funds mobilized through various savings programs reached Rs 2,66,65,00,00,000 during FY 2081/82, with savings deployment and liquidity rising to Rs 2,96,89,00,00,000 by the end of Ashoj of the current fiscal year.

The AGM also approved the annual report, financial statements including profit and loss accounts, and cash flow statements for the last fiscal year. Narayan Prasad Ghimire was unanimously elected as the representative for ordinary shareholders.

During the AGM, Chairperson Tulsi Prasad Ghimire noted that shareholder satisfaction with the dividend distribution, employee welfare, and professional development initiatives were positive signals. He emphasized the fund’s commitment to systematic and visionary management.

Executive Director Parbat Kumar Karki stated that suggestions provided by shareholders during the AGM would be addressed. He highlighted that CIT continues to progress as a well-governed institution.

Karki also mentioned challenges in recovering loan investments made to Nepal Airlines Corporation, noting that while the government provided a guarantee for aircraft purchases, recovery is expected eventually, though it may take time.

In terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the fund has invested in education, disaster management, and reconstruction projects. Karki added that CIT is progressively digitalizing its data and ensuring secure storage of institutional records.
