Gagan Thapa Urges Congress to Address Public Discontent Through Reform

Nepali Congress Chair Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the growing public discontent and frustration must be addressed through concrete reforms. Addressing a gathering organized by Nepali Congress Kaski at the party office, Thapa instructed party leaders and workers to work responsibly to respond to citizens’ grievances.

Chair Thapa remarked, “Public anger is deep. There is extreme distrust in state institutions, the constitution, judiciary, political parties, and leadership. This must be addressed through reforms. Citizens’ distrust is increasing, and there is widespread despair. Taking all of this into account, Congress must play the role of a force that can lead the country toward solutions.”

He identified corruption as the root cause of public frustration and stressed that the Nepali Congress, presenting itself as the strongest warrior against corruption, is contesting elections to bring about change. He added that just as Congress once helped take the country out of the cycle of violence, it is now committed to leading Nepal out of the cycle of corruption.

Focusing on the upcoming elections, Chair Thapa directed party leaders and workers to reach every voter’s household and listen to citizens’ concerns patiently and attentively. “The party has fielded candidates in all 165 electoral constituencies. Congress must send the message that it will lead and reform the country. Every party cadre should participate in the elections in a united and coordinated manner,” he said.

Following the session, Chair Thapa attended a meeting of the Nepali Congress Gandaki Province Committee, where he was welcomed by Province Chair Sukraraj Sharma. Chair Sharma highlighted that Congress bears an important responsibility to advance the country in line with citizens’ aspirations. He urged the party to strengthen itself through elections and work effectively to address national challenges.

The meeting was attended by provincial committee officials, parliamentary candidates from Gandaki Province, and central party members.
