Nepal Layers Poultry Federation Lowers Egg Support Price

The Nepal Layers Poultry Federation announced on Monday that it has lowered the support price for eggs. Under the new rates, a crate of large eggs (30 per crate) is priced at NPR 375, while a crate of medium eggs is set at NPR 335. The federation explained that the price adjustment is due to increased domestic egg production and large-scale imports from India, which have expanded the supply in the market.

Egg prices in Nepal had remained high until a few months ago. In Mangsir, a crate of large eggs sold for NPR 565, and medium eggs for NPR 550. Prices gradually declined over the following months. By Magh 11, the price of large eggs fell to NPR 495 per crate, and by Magh 22, it dropped further to NPR 435. Earlier, on Magh 11, the farm-level price of large eggs had been raised by NPR 30 to NPR 495 per crate, while medium eggs were set at NPR 475.
