Egg prices in market have gone up once again. The Nepal Layers Poultry Association has released new farm support selling price of eggs, which is effective from today.

New Egg Prices in Nepal

According to new rates decided by keeping Chitwan as base, price for all types of eggs is increased by up to Rs. 15 per crate. Under new pricing, the largest size egg now cost Rs. 590 per crate. Similarly, large egg price is fixed at Rs. 575 per crate and medium size egg is Rs. 535 per crate. For small eggs, price has been set at Rs. 3,200 per case.

Frequent Price Hikes in Shrawan

The association have increased egg prices again in less than a week. Before this, egg prices were increased four times in month of Shrawan alone.

Businessmen say that continuous fall in egg production has put pressure on prices. The Nepal Layers Poultry Association explained that a bird flu outbreak forced farmers to destroy large number of chickens. This caused a big drop in production, making it difficult to meet the high demand, which finally forced them to increase prices.
