SEBON Chairman Says Margin Trading Will Improve Current Credit Trading in Capital Market

SEBON Chairman Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta has stressed on the need to bring new products to Nepalese capital market to boost market excitement. He shared this view while speaking at an interaction program about capital market organized by Stock Brokers Association of Nepal on Bhadra 3.

During the program, Chairman Bhatta emphasized that SEBON will adopt a policy of cash or credit trading in the future. He said that the upcoming margin trading will help to improve current credit trading system.

Guidelines and Reforms on the Way

Chairman Bhatta informed that SEBON is preparing to issue some new guidelines for capital market. These guidelines will prioritize investor interests, risk-based regulation, and maintaining corporate governance in capital market. He also focused on the need to improve both primary and second markets.

Sagar Dhakal, the President of Stock Brokers Association of Nepal who chaired the program, pointed out that the 20 to 22 years old laws at SEBON need to be updated. He said that after the arrival of new leadership in SEBON, they have done more work than what was imagined. He also suggested SEBON to bring Auto EDIS system soon.

Focus on Investor Trust

During the event, the association’s Vice President Nitesh Kumar Agrawal presented roadmap for capital market development.

Closing the event, Priyaraj Regmi, the Chairman of FNCCI Capital Market Forum and former President, said that the views of SEBON Chairman are very clear and they must move forward accordingly. He mentioned that the most important thing in share market is investors and their trust. He also emphasized on making broker business more modern and respected.
