Nepal’s capital market witnessed a historic surge in secondary market activity during the fiscal year 2081/82, according to data released by the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). Several other key indicators of the market also showed notable improvement during the period.


Record-Breaking Turnover in Secondary Market

In fiscal year 2080/81, the total turnover in the secondary market stood at NPR 7 kharba 34 arba 68 crore. However, in FY 2081/82, this figure surged to NPR 21 kharba 24 arba 91 crore — an increase of 189.23%.

This sets a new all-time record, surpassing the previous highest turnover of NPR 14 kharba 54 arba 44 crore recorded in FY 2077/78.


Market Capitalization Sees Over 31% Growth

Market capitalization also experienced substantial growth.
By the end of Asar 2081 B.S., market capitalization stood at NPR 35 kharba 53 arba 67 crore.
By the end of Asar 2082 B.S., it had risen by 31.05% to reach NPR 46 kharba 56 arba 98 crore.

At the end of FY 2081/82, the total number of listed companies on NEPSE reached 272.
