IME Pay and Khalti are set to merge, reaching a final agreement on their merger process. Both companies are signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. If all procedures go as expected, this will be Nepal’s first digital wallet merger.
According to sources, the new company will be named “IME Khalti” after the merger.
The Board of Directors (BOD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) have already been finalized, but the financial structure and share distribution are yet to be determined.
Last year, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) amended the Payment and Settlement Bylaws 2077, allowing digital wallets to merge. This is the first major merger after the new rule was introduced.
IME Pay is backed by IME Group, while Khalti was founded by Amit Agrawal, Dhruva Adhikari, Arvind Shah, and Manish Modi. In 2078 BS, WorldLink acquired a 40% stake in Khalti.
