Swabalamban Laghubitta Distributes Fruit Saplings Under Eco-Friendly Model Village Program

Swabalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution has distributed fruit saplings and conducted training on fruit farming under its Eco-Friendly Swabalamban Model Village Development Program in Budhanilkantha-5, Dandagau.

The program was organized with the technical support of the Swabalamban Development Center. As part of the initiative, the institution distributed 258 fruit saplings of five different varieties and conducted a one-day orientation training on fruit cultivation. The program aims to develop Dandagau as an eco-friendly model village.

According to the organizers, the project seeks to reduce carbon emissions, promote waste management, encourage tree plantation for a cleaner environment, enhance entrepreneurship, generate income, and contribute to reducing unemployment. In the first phase, fruit saplings were distributed to group members of the program.

During the training, Satish Shrestha, Director of Swabalamban Development Center, facilitated discussions on the importance of local fruit production and its positive impact on rural health and income generation. Similarly, agricultural technician Ramesh Rokaya provided practical demonstrations on land preparation, pit digging, and compost mixing for plantation. Suman Shrestha, Manager of Swabalamban Laghubitta, briefed participants on the objectives of the eco-friendly model village program and the significance of fruit farming.

Swabalamban Laghubitta has already distributed more than 2,000 fruit saplings through its branch and sub-branch offices in the last fiscal year. In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the institution has already distributed 654 saplings in Dharan, Jaleshwar, and Lele, with plans to continue the initiative in the coming months.

The event saw the participation of 53 individuals, including Narayan Devi Shrestha, Suman Shrestha, and Chetanath Bagale from the central office, along with Chucchepati branch manager Kavita Silwal, staff members Surya Subedi, Urmila Khadka, Prabin Ranabhat, and several group members and guardians.
