Schools in Kathmandu Metropolitan City to reopen from today

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has asked school management and teachers to begin preparations for reopening schools, including damage assessment and arrangements for students’ attendance.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has urged school authorities and teachers to start preparations for reopening schools starting today (Sunday). The request comes in response to recent circumstances that led to the temporary closure of schools. KMC’s Education Department Acting Chief, Keshav Gyawali, stated that the directive aims to ensure schools are ready for a safe resumption of academic activities.

The Metropolitan City has instructed schools to verify whether any damage has occurred on school premises, contact parents to understand the condition and safety of students, and advise parents to facilitate students’ attendance until the situation normalizes.

According to the four-point directive, schools should begin damage assessment and necessary preparations from Bhadra 23–24. From Bhadra 30 (Monday), direct classroom teaching and psychosocial counseling will commence. Schools are also encouraged to provide audiovisual learning for students who are unable to attend in person.
