Earthquake of Magnitude 6.1 Jolts Sindhupalchowk, Tremors Felt Across Nepal

Kathmandu, Feb 28 – A powerful earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck Nepal early this morning, with its epicenter in Bhairabkunda, Sindhupalchowk, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC).

The quake hit at 2:51 AM, shaking several parts of the country, including Kathmandu Valley. Residents in the eastern and southern regions also reported feeling the tremors, sparking widespread concern.

So far, no reports of major damage or casualties have emerged. However, the quake has reignited fears about Nepal’s vulnerability to seismic disasters. Sindhupalchowk, the epicenter of this tremor, was one of the hardest-hit areas in the 2015 earthquake, which caused massive destruction and loss of life.

Authorities have urged people to stay alert for possible aftershocks. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has advised residents to follow safety protocols and remain prepared.

Further updates will follow as more details come in.
