Kathmandu: Skillsup, in collaboration with Neema Education Foundation and STEMpedia, successfully organized the Codeavour 7.0 National Competition on Magh 26, 2082, at Anupam Foodland, Battisputali, Kathmandu. The event aimed to promote students’ skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Coding, providing a platform for innovation and technology-driven solutions.
Over 300 students from more than 50 schools and colleges, aged between 7 and 18, participated in the competition. Under the theme “Technology for a Healthy Future,” around 100 projects were exhibited across three tracks: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge, and Robo Soccer League.
In the Innovation and Entrepreneurship track, students presented AI and coding solutions addressing real-world problems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge featured robots built using Quarky kits, performing tasks such as vaccine delivery and patient rescue in simulated health crises. In the Robo Soccer League, participants competed using manually built robots, demonstrating mechanical strength and wireless control skills.
The exhibition included projects focused on health, environment, and safety, such as smart wheelchairs, AI-based urban rainfall detection systems, fire and gas alert systems, flood detection systems, underground water monitoring, air quality monitoring and filtration systems, LoRa-based emergency response systems, smart greenhouses, carbon-trapping systems, and sanitary pad dispensers.
Nishchal Pradhan, CEO of Skillsup, highlighted the importance of connecting children with AI and Robotics from an early stage, stating, “This is the age of technology. Knowledge of AI and Robotics is now essential from school level. Codeavour is our small effort to connect children with technology from an early stage.”
The chief guest of the event was Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kathmandu University, recognized among the top 2% of global scientists in 2025 by Stanford University and Elsevier. Special guest Dr. Sameer Kharel, a Human-Centric AI enthusiast, was also present. The judging panel included Sugun Dhungana (CEO, Digital & Beyond), Garry de la Pomerai (Program Director, WEaRE), Deepak Pantha (HOD, Computer Science, Nirmal Secondary School), and Prabin Bohara (National Innovation Center).
Students were awarded national prizes across 12 categories for excellence in health, environment, agriculture, safety, and social impact. Notable winners included Balbatika School (Innovation in Health Award), Gyanodaya Balbatika (Robo Care Innovation Award), Kathmandu New Castle School (Girls in Tech Award), and Rajabas Secondary School (Green Tech Award). Each category winner received NPR 6,000, along with medals and trophies.
In the Wellness Wave AI–Robo Challenge, first place went to Team Oxygen (NPR 20,000), second to Navodit School (NPR 15,000), and third to Team Flourine (NPR 10,000). In the Robo Soccer League (Senior), VSN, Vajra School, and Asia Pacific School secured first, second, and third places respectively. In the Robo Soccer League (Junior), Laligurans School, Balbatika School, and Reliance Public School placed first, second, and third. All winning teams received medals, trophies, and cash prizes.
A total of 35 projects, including these award-winning entries, have been selected to represent Nepal at the Codeavour 7.0 International Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 16–17, 2026, where students from over 50 countries will participate.
Participating schools included Asia Pacific School, Reliance Public School, Laligurans National Academy, Kathmandu New Castle School, Balbatika School, Budhanilkantha School, Navodit College, St. Joseph’s School, Viratnagar, Gyanodaya Balbatika, Peak Point Academy, Kathmandu Valley School, Pathibhara English School (Morang), Nawa Kiran English School (Sunsari), Aarambha Vidya Mandir, Rajabas Secondary School, Vajra Academy, and B.S.
