Inaugurating the expo, Bagmati Province Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Madhusudan Poudel stated that the provincial government is ready to support the floriculture sector through necessary policies and programs. Similarly, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, highlighted that floriculture plays a vital role in employment generation and economic growth, while also helping reduce mental stress among urban populations.
According to Floriculture Association Nepal President Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha, floriculture is currently practiced in 52 districts across approximately 270 hectares, providing direct and indirect employment to more than 53,500 individuals. He noted that policy challenges in importing seeds and planting materials have affected domestic production and annual business turnover. The expo is expected to attract around 60,000 visitors and generate over Rs 1 crore 20 lakh in business transactions.
The exhibition includes 65 stalls featuring seasonal flowers, ornamental plants, cut flowers, dry flowers, orchids, compost fertilizers, seeds, greenhouses, agricultural tools, drip irrigation systems, modern floriculture technologies, organic pesticides, pots, packaging materials, and floral decoration displays. The Floriculture Association Nepal has been organizing such exhibitions annually since B.S. 2051 to promote the growth and expansion of the floriculture industry in Nepal.
