The five-day expo, organized by the Nursery Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal, showcases domestic horticultural products and is expected to support market expansion across the country. Speaking at the inauguration, Bagmati Province’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Madhusudan Paudel, emphasized prioritizing programs that attract youth to the floriculture sector. He highlighted challenges faced by entrepreneurs, such as shortages of fertilizers, seeds, training, and adequate land for running nursery businesses.

“These issues have been brought to the attention of the central government,” Minister Paudel said. “With coordination and collaboration across all three levels of government, these challenges can be addressed.”

Ramjee Prasad Timalsena, president of the association, stressed the need to expand nursery businesses nationwide and urged the government to allocate a budget for research and promotion of the sector. According to him, over 700 plant species—including flowers, fruits, agroforestry crops, and medicinal herbs—are on display and available for sale at the expo.

Expo coordinator Ravin Kumar Gautam shared that over 3,000 nursery businesses operate across Nepal, with investments exceeding NPR 11 billion. The sector generates annual transactions of over NPR 6 billion and provides employment, both directly and indirectly, to approximately 120,000 people.

The expo is co-organized by the Flower Development Center, Department of Plant Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Pulchok Agriculture Campus, National Fruit Development Center, and the Bagmati Province Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. Supporters include AG Agro, Kumari Flora Farm, Gautam Nursery, Floriculture Cooperative Society, and Grisma Nursery, while Uday Garden Center Pvt. Ltd. and Everest Floriculture & Vegetable Farm are responsible for event decoration.
