The Government of Nepal has officially increased the minimum salary for Nepali workers going to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including Dubai. From now on, manpower companies are not allowed to send workers to the UAE for jobs that offer less than the new set wages. This new rule came into effect after it was published in the government’s official gazette on Monday.
Earlier, unskilled workers received a minimum salary of 800 Dirhams per month. Now, they must receive at least 1,000 Dirhams in monthly salary and an additional 400 Dirhams for food expenses, making a total of 1,400 Dirhams per month.
For semi-skilled workers, the monthly salary has been fixed at 1,200 Dirhams with 400 Dirhams for food, totaling 1,600 Dirhams. Skilled workers should now be paid at least 1,500 Dirhams plus 400 for food, making it 1,900 Dirhams in total.
Highly skilled workers are entitled to a salary of 6,000 Dirhams, and they must also receive 400 Dirhams for food, making the total 6,400 Dirhams or more each month.
From now on, the Nepalese government will not approve any job offer letter that offers less than the set minimum salary and benefits.
