Compared to food items, the non-food and services group experienced relatively higher inflation at 3.94 percent. Within this group, the highest price increases were observed in miscellaneous goods and services (9.43 percent), clothing and footwear (6.82 percent), education (5.88 percent), furniture and household equipment (5.06 percent), and tobacco products (4.68 percent).
Geographically, inflation was recorded at 2.90 percent in rural areas and 2.66 percent in urban areas. In the Kathmandu Valley, inflation stood at 2.73 percent, while the Terai region recorded 2.58 percent, the Hill region 2.48 percent, and the Himalayan region saw the highest inflation at 4.18 percent.
At the provincial level, Koshi and Himalayan regions both experienced inflation of 4.18 percent. Sudurpaschim followed with 3.86 percent, Karnali 2.54 percent, Madhesh 2.52 percent, Lumbini 2.39 percent, Bagmati 2.29 percent, and Gandaki Province recorded the lowest at just 1.75 percent.
The consumer inflation rate in the month of Jestha of the current fiscal year marked the lowest level of the year. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, while inflation stood at 2.72 percent in Jestha, the average inflation rate over the previous ten months was 4.24 percent.
