Nepal Life Insurance Donates NPR 1 Crore to Kathmandu Institute of Child Health for Hospital Construction

Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited has provided a financial contribution of NPR 1 crore to the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH), a non-profit organization working in the field of child health, for the construction of a hospital building in Kathmandu.

MoU Signed for Institutional Support

The donation was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during a special event held at KIOCH’s office.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, Founding Chairperson of KIOCH, and Mr. Praveen Raman Parajuli, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Life Insurance.

The company stated that this initiative is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

Hospital Construction Nearing Completion

A multi-specialty children’s hospital, KIOCH–Kathmandu, is under construction in Budhanilkantha Municipality–7 of Kathmandu and is in its final phase of development. While the main hospital building is still being completed, a clinical research building has already been constructed and is operational. It serves pediatric patients and advances research on child health and non-communicable diseases.

Company’s Commitment to Child Health

Speaking at the event, Nepal Life’s Board Director Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal praised Dr. Koirala’s leadership and expressed confidence that the project will play a transformative role in improving child health across Nepal.

He emphasized that such projects not only support national health policies but can also help prevent the loss of lives in remote areas due to lack of timely treatment. Agrawal added that Nepal Life is proud to be associated with this impactful initiative.

CEO Praveen Raman Parajuli further stated that the company continues to support various social, economic, educational, and cultural transformation programs under its CSR commitments. He extended congratulations and best wishes to all involved in the project and affirmed Nepal Life’s readiness to continue supporting the development of advanced children’s hospitals across all seven provinces of Nepal.

He expressed confidence that this NPR 1 crore support would help underprivileged children receive specialized care from expert pediatricians.

KIOCH’s Vision and Existing Services

Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, founder of KIOCH and a renowned cardiologist and professor, said the support from Nepal Life would accelerate the progress of the project.

He explained that KIOCH was established with the aim of operating a central multi-specialty children’s hospital that would function as a resource center for all provincial child hospitals. The institution is committed to providing quality pediatric services, training skilled human resources, enhancing service standards, and contributing to health policy development and regulatory frameworks.

Under this vision, the first KIOCH hospital — KIOCH–Damak — has already been established and is currently offering a range of services including:

  • Outpatient, emergency, and inpatient care
  • Laboratory and radiology services
  • PICU, NICU, and HDU units
  • Modular operating theaters for surgical procedures
