Fasto Transforms Grocery Shopping in Nepal with Efficient Online Delivery

Fasto, a Nepalese quick-commerce grocery platform, is prioritizing efficiency over speed alone, according to co-founder Prashant Ghimire. Speaking with Bajarko Chirfar, Ghimire clarified that the company’s “10-minute delivery” promise refers to the swift processing of orders once they enter the system, rather than guaranteeing delivery strictly within ten minutes.

He explained that grocery shopping behavior in Nepal differs from international markets. “People in Nepal do not buy groceries in bulk; they shop multiple times and purchase items only as needed,” Ghimire said, highlighting that this pattern makes digital solutions crucial for the grocery industry.

Online platforms like Fasto allow customers to order essentials instantly—such as juice or other daily-use items—without visiting physical stores. This, Ghimire noted, enables people to spend time more efficiently, whether at work or with family.

Fasto operates on a dark store model, which allows a single store to serve a large number of customers efficiently, unlike traditional offline stores constrained by space and long queues. Delivery riders can complete four to five orders in a single trip, improving overall system efficiency.

Since its launch, Fasto has fulfilled over 50,000 orders within four months, with the average order value ranging between Rs. 700 and Rs. 750. The platform charges a delivery fee of over Rs. 300, while orders below Rs. 300 incur a Rs. 100 delivery charge.

Describing Fasto as an “online department store,” Ghimire said the platform offers a wide variety of products and hosts all major brands. He added that Fasto has already expanded multiple dark stores across Kathmandu and plans to extend operations beyond the capital soon.
