The price of large and medium-sized eggs has been raised due to rising production costs.
The Nepal Layers Poultry Association has announced an increase in egg prices effective from 6th Shrawan 2081. The prices of both large and medium-sized eggs have been raised by Rs. 30 per crate.
Following the revision, the price of large eggs now stands at Rs. 525 per crate, up from the previous rate of Rs. 495 set on 20th Asar. Similarly, the price of medium eggs has increased to Rs. 495 per crate, compared to the earlier price of Rs. 465.
According to the association, the adjustment was necessary due to rising production costs. In addition to the revised rates, an extra charge of Rs. 130 per crate will apply for transportation from Chitwan to various depots across the country, which includes the cost of cartons and crates. The association stated that these expenses will be factored in while setting the final retail market prices for consumers.
